October 21, 2017 – Robin provided a full day workshop for Ashley Treatment alumni to create their own G.L.A.D. Journal [a technique by Donald Altman, M.A., LPC]. Robin shared art for healing techniques she uses to keep her recovery strong. 

 

Sept 16, 2017, Robin lead the painting of Recovery Anne Arundel Tree at the Forest of Hope project to help raise awareness and funds for recovery education through the Nikki Perlow Foundation It was an amazing event and we thank all who helped with donations and painting.

August 1, 2017, Great News! Robin’s husband Dirk has responded positively to his intense radiation treatments (62 in 31 days) and 4 chemos and the tumor is gone! No more cancer! Thank you God!

April 24, 2017, 5:00 – 7:00pm, join Robin Gilliam at the Behavioral Health Awareness Art Show – opening April 24, 2017 – Hosted by the First Lady of Maryland Yumi Hogan! Robin is one of 20 artists juried into the show! 

March 2 – June 15, 2017 – Robin’s Calvert County 350 (2004) mixed media memory collage was juried into the BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport exhibit, Maryland Historic Connections. It is open to the public in Departures between gates C&D. Stop by and see it if you are traveling out of the BWI airport.

 

RECOVERY ART STUDIO JOINS THE FIGHT AGAINST CANCER

On February 22, 2017, Robin’s husband was diagnosed with head/neck cancer. He will be undergoing intense radiation therapy/chemo  for 6-7 weeks starting on March 8th.  As a result, starting in March, Robin will be temporarily stepping down from her On Going events to be a care-partner to Dirk. Robin is very grateful for being in recovery for she knows that is what is going to help her suit up and show up for Dirk during this very trying time!

Robin still plans on creating and exhibiting to help her process this new journey and continue to advocate for the healing power of art in recovery. She thanks everyone for their prayers and support!

January 2016 – Current: Member of Recovery Anne Arundel County (first Thursday of every month)

January – June 2017: Secretary of Recovery Anne Arundel – a coalition of organizations in Anne Arundel county, Maryland, working together to break the stigma of addiction and find solutions for providing recovery services.

November 2016 – February 2017: Robin joined the Restoration Community Development Corporation (RCDC) staff as the recovery art educator for the Robinwood Adolescent Recovery Clubhouse. Robin is super excited to teach the healing power of art to these children!

February 3, 2017, Robin met with Kate Joyce to join the Create for Recovery campaign, sponsored by Mosaic Community Services. Recovery Art Studio is honored and blessed to collaborate with them to help break the stigma about mental illness and addiction through art. Stay tuned for up coming news on their art auction to be held May 31 – June 7, 2017! 

February 9, 2017, Monthly workshop with Robinwood Adolescent Recovery Clubhouse – starting  a project for children to create their own mailboxes out of cigar boxes. A big thanks to Davidus Cigars in Annapolis for their support!

January 23, 2017, Robin visits her elementary school – where her dream of helping others heal through art began – to provide her STARS© collage workshop to the teachers.
