High Robin! That is what all the students who signed my 1976/77 yearbook said. Not “Hi” but “High” “yea don’t you wish we were?”

Wow – Really?!? That was the end of my freshmen year in high school and I was 15. I just found this yearbook when cleaning out my parent’s house to help them downsize to a retirement community.

So EVERYONE knew me at 15 as a stoner! I thought I was the only one who knew. And, it took me years into recovery to understand that I was self-medicating to control painful migraines and remove anxiety, not actually striving to be a stoner!

Well here we are 40 years later – that’s crazy too – 40 years! And, those years of getting high to escape life are long gone. Thank God! Now after 26+ years in recovery, I finally have enough courage and confidence to really step into my calling to educate, encourage, and empower people who are affected by the disease of addiction and mental illness through the healing power of art.

I am doing this by leading the Recovery Art Movement  and launching The Shoppes at Recovery Art Studio. The Shoppes include the Serenity, Courage, Wisdom, Gratitude, and Confidence Galleries! I am also pleased to offer a Gallery of my Originals.

How cool is that! Most artists assign their artwork to categories such as “landscapes” “animals” “mountains” “wildlife.”

Since I create to help me deal, heal, and recover and this is Recovery Art, I decided to map my galleries to spiritual principles that have carried me in my recovery.
