*Dreams don't die*
I wanted to help people heal with art since I was 10 when I learned that my great grandma was committed to a mental institution for schizophrenia.
So, I got my BA from Goucher College (1984) in art & psychology. Then addiction took hold & I dropped out of my NYU art therapy masters program.
On Feb 6, 1991, I found recovery...
I create mixed media collages to heal, to move out of the darkness
and into the light.
I do this with simple supplies, acrylic paint, magazines, vintage books, stencils, and costume jewelry...
As I create on a canvas or in my art journals I release fear, doubt, insecurity, shame or grief and cycle easily back to gratitude & serenity.
Spiritual principles of the 12 steps
...found objects & life's challenges...
Items collected from antique stores *my sister & I call this junking* anything vintage: books, magazines, papers, linens, jewelry, skeleton keys,
...finding rusty items & bird feathers on the street while walking my dogs,
and taking pictures of flowers.
